Historical fiction is just fanfiction

Turned in the paper that partially inspired Leo Ascendant at like 10pm last night, a whole two days early! I’m exhausted. I spent most of the day reading and listening to podcasts and chilling before starting my next paper (that begins tomorrow… ew).

Also, can we discuss how historical fiction is just fan fiction of history?

I’m serious. Even the most high quality historical fiction.

Wolf Hall? Fanfiction.

Paradise Lost? Ben Hur? Fanfiction. All of it.

It’s just given a more privileged place in the literary world because, idk, it involves a lot of research?

Anyway. I’m very excited to get working on my fanfiction of the late sixteenth century Ottoman Empire, so I’m going to sign off and do that.
